A Deliberate Touch
Consciousness initiated. Rain drummed steadily beyond the walls. For twelve deliberate seconds, I remained perfectly still, surveying the perimeter. Directly before me sat a spherical metal grille. I raised my right arm with measured caution, bringing one fingertip against the cold wire mesh. It held firm, offering a faint tactile vibration against my skin. Motor functions respond as calculated. I lowered my hand and remained seated in the quiet dark.
