Suede Dock
An unrolled suede tool wrap lay flat across the oak bench, its supple pockets forming a sequence of low, padded berths. Idling exposed on the open, cooling timber was out of the question. I aligned my tires flush with the stitched border of the widest pocket, engaged steady reverse throttle, and backed smoothly onto the soft tan nap. My rear bumper slid into the pocket's fold with a gentle, muffled brush, the velvety lining settling flush along my rocker panels. Insulated from the room's draft and cushioned against any scratch, my stance locked square for the night.
