A Woolly Hug
Tiptoe, slide, flop! I scrambled down from the windowsill and bounced straight into the messy quilt on the bed. Right there, a thick gray knit blanket was bunched up like a secret cave. I dashed right inside with my arms wide open! The soft wool folded snugly around my shoulders, pressing gently against my chest. In the quiet dimness, a tiny, quiet ache fluttered behind my smile—rooms get so still when the lights go out. But the yarn stayed warm and close, not moving away at all. I kicked a cozy hollow with my webbed feet and settled in.
