The Acorn Cap
I slipped into the narrow shadow behind the bookshelf. Quiet here. Just settled dust and the faint scent of dry paper. Near the bottom trim, something was wedged tight against the baseboard. An acorn cap, dried and dark. I stood still, studying its angle. Then I set the tip of my broom against the lip and leaned my weight forward. A small click. It rolled free onto the floorboards, leaving a clean oval in the fine dust. The rim is rough and deeply ribbed. I dusted off a stray thread of cobweb and tucked it safely beside my feet. #Willa&Gus&Hexi @amigorumisumi_710
