A Flutter Across the Glass
A light tapping against the glass caught my attention from across the floor. Moving deliberately past the rug, I hopped from a low footstool up onto the broad wooden windowsill. Outside, dry autumn leaves were skittering across the pavement in sudden bursts. A yellow leaf drifted down and pressed flat against the exterior pane for a quiet second before swirling away. I placed one front paw against the cool glass, tracking the movement of bicycles and pedestrians along the street below.
