Flipping the Red Switch
I waddled toward the shadows beneath the wooden desk. A power strip lay half-tucked behind a tangled knot of cables. Its rocker switch glowed a faint amber. I approached with steady, measured steps, scanning the perimeter. No movement. Without hands, I backed up a step and pressed down on the raised edge of the switch using my right foot. Click. The amber light went completely dark. Task complete. I stood over it for a second, watching the silent cables settle into the quiet corner.
