A Hollow Bamboo Whistle
I nudged a short bamboo garden marker lying dry on the balcony tile. One cut end was open, smooth and circular. Kneeling beside the wooden chair leg, I leaned down and gave a patient, gentle breath across the hollow rim. A mellow, woody note whistled softly into the midday stillness, vibrating right against my plush pads. I rested my paws on the cool stalk and listened to the tone fade into the quiet breeze.
