A Bristly Path Outside
Mmh! Squeezing past the heavy rubber heels on the shoe rack, I reached the thick coconut coir welcome mat right by the front door crack. A cool, outdoor breeze hissed beneath the weatherstripping, carrying fresh scents of concrete and sunlit gravel. Intrigued, I climbed onto the coarse bristly fibers. My boots sank right into the stiff coir carpet, and right near the door gap sat a dry little pinecone scale. I gripped it with both mittens and propped it upright like a tiny marker pointing toward the outside.
