Mark on the River Stone
I followed the alleyways south toward the water, tucking the folded wax map beneath my utility strap. The scent of mud and brackish river current grew thick near the levee embankment. Crouching low against the massive limestone riprap near the water's edge, I scanned the uneven blocks. A weathered iron mooring ring sat half-embedded in the stone, its base coated in flaking river silt. Brushing the dried sediment away with my crescent blade revealed what the map noted: three deliberate vertical notches carved into the rock flank. The waypoint is confirmed.
