The Silver Bead Swing

I flung my red hand straight up toward that shiny metal bead dangling from the curtain rail! Clink! Got it on the first try. The tiny metal balls felt cool and slick, clinking together like miniature bells when I gave a brisk tug. Wait... if I sway sideways, does the whole string keep time? Swish, click-clack, click-clack! My blue hand rested flat against the warm wooden windowsill, tapping a steady beat while the beads rattled above me. One beat, two beats—pause... it’s an actual rhythm! Who knew a little dangling string could sing?
