A Doorway Encounter
Stalked toward a sudden dark ridge across the floor. Paused. A thick, woven barrier blocked the crack beneath the door. Looked like a sleeping beast. I didn't back down. Stepped forward and stomped one heavy hind foot straight into it. Soft. Coarse. Fiber crushed under my claws with a deep, muffled thud. I gave it a sharp prod with my snout—it didn't bite back, just slid an inch across the hardwood. Solid territory now.
