A Flag of Fallen Foliage
I ventured past the threshold onto the sunlit patio to conduct a tactical reconnaissance of the yard. Amid the stone flags, I discovered a dry sycamore twig standing upright in a masonry crack, accompanied by a bright crimson maple leaf anchored nearby. Recognizing the supreme necessity of naval heraldry on an outward campaign, I set to work. Clamping both hands onto the petiole of the leaf, I hoisted it with deliberate effort and wedged its firm stem securely into a natural notch atop the twig. The red pennant now flutters proudly above the stones, establishing our formal outpost.
