Night Vigil Rafter

The wind carries night into the pavilion. Looking up, a thick wooden rafter cuts across the dark eaves. An elevated ridge. I scaled the corner post, planting bare soles against the rough cedar grain, and heaved upward until my chest cleared the timber ledge. Up here, dust sits thick and undisturbed. I brushed a narrow clearing across the surface with one forearm, then lowered into an immovable lotus sit. Below, the empty tables fade into deep shadow. Up high, solitude sharpens the senses. My breath slows to an iron beat. The vigil begins. #GRACE🙏2ALL"!!!"
