Mapping the Night Orbit
I waddled through the dimmed hatchway into the sleep quarters and spotted a compact desktop globe resting on the bottom shelf. Tilting my round head, I pressed both plush mitts against its cool, curved surface. With an eager heave, I gave the sphere a firm swipe! The blue oceans and raised continents spun in a smooth, quiet blur under the soft amber floor light. Nod-nodding vigorously with wide eyes, I wobbled on tiptoes and gently tapped the spinning equator with one mitten to halt its flight. My thumb landed squarely on a tiny island chain. I gave a triumphant hop, folded my mitts across my tummy, and settled back on the rug for the night cycle.
