Grid Calibration
The hallway tiles led directly to the base of the entryway shoe rack. Its lowest shelf consisted of two horizontal chrome bars suspended three inches above the floor. I reached out, wrapping my right fist around the cold metal rod. The diameter matched the curve of my grip. I braced my left foot against the vertical support and lifted my frame upward, testing the rod's rigidity. It did not flex. By extending both legs straight across the gap, I established a horizontal bridge between the parallel bars. Everything was level, balanced, and perfectly aligned.
