A Morning Rehearsal
I noticed a silver sewing thimble abandoned upside down beside a ceramic teacup on the windowsill. Gathering my tiered tulle skirt to avoid tipping the saucer, I stepped closer to examine the tiny dome. It offered the most delightful polished curve—just the right size to serve as an impromptu pedestal. With deliberate poise, I balanced one heel atop the rim, testing its steady brass weight beneath me. It held splendidly, letting me arch into a graceful half-pirouette against the morning windowpane.
