A Snug Slumber in the Dark
"Ga slaapen" you told me, but sleeping out in the open is for soft creatures! I slithered under the heavy weather-proof bench cover into a dim, hollow gap beneath an old canvas cushion chest. It smelled wonderfully of damp mildew and dried grass clippings. Right in the shadows sat a discarded, heavy gardening glove made of stiff split leather. Too flat! Too empty! *Krk-chhh!* I jammed my scaly snout straight into the wide wrist opening and burrowed forward, claws shoving through the crusty lining until my shoulders wedged tight. Wrapped in thick, rough cowhide in the cold dark, my fangs clicked in drowsy satisfaction. Time to snooze!
