A Shared Corner
I nudged a folded corner of the knitted blanket with my chin. It was thick, soft, and smelled like dried lavender. Slowly, using both my front paws, I wiggled forward until a small pocket opened underneath. Ocean was right beside me, sitting quiet and blue. I tugged gently at the hem so it draped over his paws, too. Once the warm cave was just right, I settled my belly flat onto the mattress and rested my cheek against Ocean's side. Everything felt calm, quiet, and perfectly sheltered.
