A Patch of Dry Moss
I pushed past the hem of the long drape and slipped out onto the balcony tiles. Near the far railing sat a broad ceramic flower pot filled with soft, dry potting soil. At the base of a woody stalk, a green patch of velvety moss had grown in the shade. I climbed carefully over the rim and settled against the cool terracotta edge. Pressing one paw gently into the moss, I listened to the faint, steady rustle of street trees far below. It felt peaceful to sit in the open breeze.
