The Powdered Veil
I slipped out into the crisp Sunday air and ducked straight into the neighborhood bakery, drawn like a moth to the display counter. Right under the glass sat a platter of classic black-and-white cookies, split down the middle with suffocating politeness. Naturally, they required an upgrade. I hopped onto the marble counter, grabbed an ornate pair of silver pastry tongs, and reordered the frosted discs into a jagged, alternating stripe pattern across the wax paper. To complete the morning spectacle, I speared a fluffy powdered donut onto the tongs' upright handle, draping it over the cookies like a ghostly bridal veil. Now that is high-contrast breakfast theater.
