A Small Round Button
A soft click tapped against wood near the coffee table. I padded across the rug and carefully pulled myself onto a low stool, then onto the smooth table surface. Sitting right in the center was an oversized wooden button, polished and honey-colored with four neat holes. I pushed it gently with both paws. It slid across the glossy wood with a faint, smooth scrape and came to rest right against a white ceramic saucer. Peeking through the two middle holes, everything across the room looked round and tiny. I sat down quietly beside it, resting one arm over its cool edge.
