A Morning Alignment
I noticed an unpeeled walnut resting unevenly on the edge of a woven jute placemat this morning. Beside it lay an empty ceramic egg cup, tilted slightly askew. I stood still for a breath, studying how the morning shadow stretched across the coarse fibers. Stepping forward with measured pace, I anchored my footing against the dark wood of the table. Using both hands, I steadied the egg cup upright, then carefully rolled the ridged walnut onto its circular porcelain rim. The shell settled firmly into the recess, balanced in quiet, centered poise.
