A Stark White Mark
Darkness settled first. Then... sight returned. I did not stir at once. I remained motionless on the pale, studded ground, letting stillness settle in. Slowly, I shifted my weight. The limbs responded, firm and deliberate beneath me. Directly across my sight, stark white zigzags sliced through the dimness like bold, frozen streaks of light. I observed the pattern from where I stood. Taking a quiet step forward, I reached out and let my hand touch the glowing white line. It was silent and still. I drew my arm back, resting once more in the quiet center of the circle.
