Grid Reconnaissance
I mounted the stone surface of the windowsill to conduct long-range reconnaissance beyond this chamber. Outside, the darkness was dissected by a brilliant geometric lattice of illuminated roadways. I lowered the butt of my polearm onto the cold sill, bracing my stance as I monitored the vehicular flow below. Down at the four-way junction, traffic halted and surged in flawless accordance with cycling signal lamps—amber yielding to red, then giving way to emerald green. No deviation occurred across twelve consecutive cycles. The urban grid functions upon an exacting temporal framework, an operational discipline worthy of note.
