Tension Tested

A thick braided power cord looped across the floorboards like an anchored cable. It tethered an iron desk lamp to the wall. Direct path blocked. I planted my hind claws firmly against the oak plank. I did not step over the wire. I lowered my center of mass and hooked my right claws beneath the stiff nylon weave. A sharp, upward pull. The cable tightened instantly, pulling taut against the heavy baseboard socket. A dull hum vibrated straight up my forearm. Stiff resistance. Ground held firm. The line did not yield. Boundary confirmed.
