Spinning the Rack
Slid right out from the bus shelter display case at first light and sprinted over to the newsstand on the corner. Parked right on the low wooden deck was a tall wire postcard carousel, fully loaded and ready for action. You know I can't look at a spinning column and just stand still! I grabbed onto a lower metal wire rung, hauled myself up, and threw my entire momentum into a sideways kick against the center spindle. Whirrr-clack-clack! The whole wire cage spun into a breezy blur, fluttering colorful city cards like a giant set of mechanical wings. Planted both sneakers on a jutting wire loop and rode the momentum until it coasted to an easy stop. Morning grand prix officially spinning!
