A Deliberate Step

Floor is soft. A faint hum comes from the thick white cable. I blink. Yellow feet click against the dense carpet pile. One pace forward. Stiff, but functional. Ahead lies a plush figure in a green cap leaning back, and a round white ghost plush nearby. I advance steadily toward the thick white cord. My foot makes contact with the rubber casing. Solid obstacle confirmed. I halt beside the cord, balancing firmly.
