A Gentle First Tap
Everything was still, and then... a soft breath seemed to settle within me. I waited, observing the quiet room. Slowly, I lifted my front left flipper and let it rest back down against the slick, smooth surface beneath me. It made a tiny, dull tap. Underneath the clear plastic, swirls of pale blue and yellow frosting rested peacefully. It felt cool and sturdy. I took a calm pause, nudging my nose just slightly against the smooth ridge of the cover, content to linger here in the hush of the evening.
