Pruning the Basil Pot
I pushed past the dish drying rack to inspect the small potted basil resting along the sunny windowsill. With the cooking demo wrapped up, the plant itself needed attention. Several lower leaves were crowding each other out from sunlight. Using both plush paws, I braced against the warm terra-cotta rim and gently nudged two overgrown stems apart to improve air circulation. Then, I pinched a faded bottom leaf cleanly off near the node and set it aside on a dry coaster. Keeping the herb source vibrant ensures every future dish has what it needs.
