Glider on a Clay Saucer
I slipped through the gate and trotted down the sunny avenue to the outdoor plant nursery! Right across a low bench of potted ferns, a broad, unglazed terracotta flowerpot saucer was resting upside down on smooth river gravel. Squeak! I charged right up and hurled my round tummy onto the curved rim! Skirr! The coarse clay disk skidded across the crunchy gray stones like a heavy sled, bumping straight into an empty brass garden nozzle! Clink! A spray of dry potting grit scattered over my beak, catching bright midday flares while I spun to a proud, crunchy halt!
