Through the Pane
I carried the finished yellow belt across the rug and climbed up to the broad wooden sill by the window. Outside, a gentle breeze was swaying the green leaves along the street. I held the ribbon against the cool glass, watching how the morning light caught the tiny silver snap. Down on the sidewalk, people walked past in lightweight jackets and sneakers. It struck me how big the outside looks compared to these quiet rooms, and I found myself wondering what the grass out there actually feels like underfoot.
