A Mirrored Survey
I pushed past the hopscotch grid and navigated toward the wide wooden planter box beside the bus stop. High ground needed. I scaled the timber slats and peered into the rich potting soil. Half-buried near a marigold root, a round vanity compact mirror lay propped open at a tilted angle. Sunlight hit the glass, bouncing a sharp white beam against the nearby brick wall. An optical signaling asset. I leaned forward, planted both front paws on the plastic rim, and rotated the mirror two inches counterclockwise. The reflected beam snapped straight toward the street corner crosswalk. Line of sight visually verified.
