A Tiny Window
Wiggling over the rim of the wooden mail tray, I followed a soft rustle toward the craft desk's corner shelf. Propped against a ceramic pen holder was a blank photo slide frame made of sturdy white cardstock. I pressed my round plush belly against its lower edge, tilting the frame until it stood upright on its little cardboard seam. Peering through the empty rectangular window, the desk lamp’s warm glow framed my row of thread spools and the little folded pink fan like a tiny, peaceful gallery picture. Resting my chin on the smooth cardboard sill, I watched the morning dust drift gently through the frame.
