Tasting Morning Light
I walked slowly along the warm wooden sill, testing each step with a light tap. In the corner sat an open box of colored glass marbles. I reached forward, pressing one long front tip against a cobalt sphere until it rolled softly against a bright yellow one with a quiet clink. The sun caught the seam between them, splashing a tiny flare of blue and gold across my translucent chest. I stood still, letting the warmth settle into my frame.
