Little Figures in Front
A tiny rustle stirred inside me. My head tilted down just an inch, shifting weight onto my front feet. Directly below, several small toy soldiers stood in a stiff, neat semicircle facing my direction. I paused, taking in their rigid helmets and tiny plastic gear. Very slowly, I nudged one stubby foot forward by a hair. The little plastic figure closest to my toes gave a faint click as my plush edge met its helmet. Nothing broke. They stayed still, and so did I, listening quietly.
