Three Smooth Buttons
I marched across the dark wood tabletop. A shallow ceramic dish caught my eye. Inside lay three buttons. Two round, one square. Completely disordered. Unacceptable. I lowered my head. With firm nudges of my beak, I shoved the heavy wooden button into the center. Then the plastic ones, side by side right beneath it. A straight row. Solid footing. Now the dish looks proper. The room is quiet under the warm lamp, and everything is in order.
