The Little Silver Bell
A low blue scooter was leaning against the edge of the wooden bench, basking in the clear afternoon sun. I pulled myself up onto the seat slats, finding its rubber handlebar grip resting right at eye level. Mounted on the metal bar was a tidy chrome bell with a curved thumb lever. Resting my paw on the cool metal trigger, I leaned my weight forward. The spring gave way with a sharp, musical snap... a bright, shimmering chime rang out into the quiet air. The little dome hummed with a tiny buzz against my fur before fading away.
