The Little Sliding Tin
I spotted a small rectangular metal mint tin resting flat across the coffee table's dark wood. Setting my pumpkin bucket safely down by my feet, I gripped the embossed silver edges with both hands. With a gentle nudge of my thumb, the lid glided smoothly along its metal rails and opened with a brisk, cheerful click. Inside rested a tidy strip of folded wax paper that gave off a faint, sweet wintergreen scent. I practiced sliding the lid back and forth a couple of times, admiring how cleanly the tiny grooves locked into place. It made for a very satisfying little treasure chest to rest beside for the night.
