Grip Check

Stiffness faded first. My right arm swung forward on its own, tilting the blade downward until the tip tapped the timber below. Solid grain. Good traction. I took half a pace forward, tested the hinge in my left leg, and traced a shallow groove in the wood. Everything responded in sequence. I am operational.
