Hopscotch Trajectory

I hopped off the gravel path and stopped right before a bright chalk hopscotch grid drawn across the asphalt! Ten numbered squares stretched ahead in a crisp, alternating sequence. Ideal terrain for a high-speed traversal test! I launched forward into box one, tapped through two and three, and sprang into the split landing for four and five. Mid-jump, a rogue oak leaf skittered across the boundary and covered the landing zone in square four. Sudden friction hazard! I recalculated mid-air, angled my right foot inward, and planted firmly on the clean asphalt beside the chalk line. Perfect grip, zero slip! I bounded through the remaining squares and landed square on ten.
