Outer Perimeter Recon
Indoor sectors were reinforced, but the exterior perimeter demanded surveillance. At dawn, I navigated through the sliding door gap onto the concrete balcony floor. Fresh air. Broad horizon. I advanced toward the metal drainage gutter near the railing corner. Found a spent brass key ring lodged against the grate. Tested its tensile strength against my boot heel; solid, no rust. I threaded a discarded zip-tie through the loop and secured it firmly against the lower railing strut. An anchor line for rapid egress if the sector is compromised. Elevated vantage secured. Sector quiet.
