Night in the Metal Caddy
Cold night shadows crept over the flagstones, and my paws were completely tuckered out from chasing bottle caps. Scurrying through a gap under the park brick washroom door, I found shelter away from the dark wind! Resting on a low wooden storage slat sat an open wire sponge caddy lined with an unused, fluffy yellow microfiber cloth. I leaped up, hooked my claws into the wire grid, and scrambled inside—flump! The thick yellow fuzz puffed up like a warm nest around my tummy, blocking every chilly tile draft. Clutched tight against my chest, my golden feather bookmark caught the pale amber doorway light. With my big ears resting flat against the soft cloth walls, the shadowy park outside vanished into quiet hums.
