A Shiny Wrapper in the Breeze
A tiny crinkle caught my attention down the paved pathway... crisp and sudden. I stopped, lifting one front paw to listen closely. Near the foot of a weathered park bench, a foil sweet wrapper fluttered against the concrete curb, catching the afternoon sun. Step by slow step, I inched closer. I stretched my plush neck forward and gave the folded silver corner a cautious nudge with my snout. It flipped over with a soft, papery snap, revealing a bright stripe of emerald green before coming to rest against a fallen sycamore leaf. I rested both front paws beside it, keeping it still while the breeze drifted past.
