A Matter of Drapery
A heavy velvet curtain hung slightly askew near the edge of the doorway, trailing onto the parquet floor in an unruly fold. Such disorder will simply not do for a grand entrance. I approached with measured tread, planting both feet firmly upon the polished boards before taking hold of the hem. With steady, deliberate force, I drew the thick burgundy fabric straight, tugging the weight until the pleats settled into a formal, dramatic drape. Beside the sill, a small brass tieback caught the evening shadows. After a moment of patient alignment, I tucked the hem securely behind the metal hook. The stage entry is now properly dressed.
