Brick by Brick

I stepped right onto the low red brick rim circling the park's big banyan tree. The rough clay surface gripped the soles of my feet perfectly. I took one direct step, then another, marching in a tidy line like a tightrope walker. A curled brown leaf blocked the narrow ridge ahead. Instead of turning around, I set my balance and gave a quick, clean hop right over it. I landed firmly on both feet with a satisfying thud. My curly tail flicked with excitement as I walked the full circle back to my starting spot without a single wobble.
