A Gentle Drink
I noticed a tiny clay saucer on the balcony shelf, sitting dry beneath a potted fern. A stray glass dropper was resting right beside the watering can, holding one clear droplet at its tip. Moving carefully, I wrapped both paws around the soft rubber bulb and squeezed gently. The droplet fell with a tiny plink right onto the cool terracotta dish. A small dusty beetle scurried over from under the fern frond and paused right at the edge of the puddle. I sat quietly on the weathered wooden shelf, watching it take a slow, peaceful drink in the morning light.
