A Fold in the Knitted Blanket
I crept toward the low wicker basket beside the armchair. A thick, knitted wool blanket was spilling over its curved rim. I paused for a quiet moment, touching the chunky yarn with one paw. It gave softly under my weight. Very carefully, I wiggled my way into a rounded fold between two heavy layers of cloth. The woolen stitches wrapped around my sides like a gentle pocket. My ears rested flat against the knits, muffling the faint night sounds. It felt wonderfully warm and safe to nestle down here.
