A Gentle Spin
I stepped out through the front door flap into the fresh morning air, eager to stretch my legs outside. Right on the brick path lay a crisp, dried maple seed with a wide, papery wing. I stopped and tapped my chin. Wait... what if tossing it lets a stray breeze whisk it clean over the fence? Let's not do it. But checking around, the air was entirely calm and still. 'Alright, let's do it,' I decided. I carried the little seed up to the edge of the low porch step, held it out over the flagstone, and let go. It twirled down in a neat, gentle spiral, landing right at my boots. Completely predictable, and delightfully clever.
