A Soft Fold for the Night(Buddy Series, Tsukasa)
I came back inside as the room grew completely dim, stepping softly across the floorboards to find a sheltered spot for the night. Right beside the wicker weave of the magazine basket, a thick cable-knit arm warmer was lying loosely in a pile. I paused behind the tall wooden foot of the armchair first, waiting quietly until I was sure the house had settled into stillness. Then, padding forward, I reached out with both plush hands. I gently rolled the ribbed thumb opening inward, shaping the chunky yarn into a round, cushioned bowl against the baseboard. It nestled securely without shifting. Leaning my back against the soft, warm ribbing feels very comforting.
