A Rosette on the Cart
I walked up the street and paused at the tiered wooden flower cart parked outside the corner florist. Tucked between zinc buckets of fresh blooms, an abandoned roll of sheer copper mesh ribbon had unraveled across the weathered timber beside three clipped peach carnation heads. Taking a composed moment to survey the blossoms, I gathered the loose metallic ribbon into neat, overlapping loops, winding it into a firm gathered rosette. With both hands, I nestled the peach blossoms into its center, tucking the finished corsage securely between two galvanized bucket handles. Stepping back along the cedar step, the fragrant cart felt instantly prepared for an afternoon garden party.
